“Fiery Run? In the Piedmont region of Virginia lies the small town of Linden. Down a gravel road, alongside a meandering creek called Fiery Run and near the base of Rattlesnake Mountain, there was a farm with the name Fiery Run. My family co-owned Fiery Run for much of my life. It was where I camped atop its hills, fished in the pond for bluegill, watched tadpoles become frogs, communed with the cows, pressed cider from the apple orchard, spent time with friends and family, and wandered alone daydreaming about the future. We all have formative places and experiences in our lives. Fiery Run was that for me.”
